Want some "me time"?
Drop your kids off at The Creative Child and then head across the street to Wheelhouse Pottery to make some art yourself in their pottery class.
7 Week Program - Sunday 10:30 - 12:30pm
Sept 7th - Oct 19th
Parents Class Outline:
Week 1:
Introduction to Wheel Throwing!
It’s so exciting to throw a pot on the wheel, so let’s get dirty! Your instructor will teach you the basic steps and techniques for throwing bowls & mugs.
Weeks 2 and 3: Trimming & Throwing.
Class will start with learning about trimming excess clay and cleaning up the bottoms of your new pots. After your pieces are trimmed, back to throwing some new creations!
Week 4: Glazing.
Learning about the fundamentals of glazing and under glazing and try out a few of your first pieces out of the first firing. After you finish glazing, you’ll be trimming your pieces from week 4 and then throwing new pieces if there’s time.
Week 5: Trimming and Finishing.
Trim your pieces from week 6, and try out some hand-building. Everything needs to be finished by the end of this class and ready to go into the kiln to be fired and ready for glazing next week.
Week 6:
Decorate with your child!
Take a couple of your finished pieces at Wheelhouse Pottery and use underglazes to paint and decorate your pottery with your child! If there's time after that, we will do a hand-building project back in the wheelhouse studio.
Week 7: Glaze and Finish!
Try out dipping glazing from our selection of gorgeous options! Experiment with different methods and colour combos.
Beginner and all levels welcome.
